Student Screening

Student Screening will be performed on Saturday, March 3, 2012.

All children applying for admission are screened so that we will know he or she is ready to learn at our school. Screening is performed by school staff members and helps us understand your child's readiness for school.

We do not "grade" the screening process as if it was an entrance exam. Rather, the process is designed to help us learn about and understand your child and ensure that all students entering school can be successful.

Screening for Kindergarten

Candidates for Kindergarten will be asked to perform simple tasks and interact with adults. Kindergarten screening is developmental. Students are expected to demonstrate:

• Gross Motor Skills
• Listening Skills
• Speaking Skills
• Age Appropriate Behaviors

Screening for First through Eighth Grades

Candidates for first through eighth grades are given a simple test to assess arithmetic, language and reading abilities.

Screening Schedule

There are two sessions for screening the pool of Kindergarten applicants. Your child will be scheduled into one of the sessions and you will receive a Screening Schedule letter in advance. Screening for applicants for the other grades is performed at a single time.
