Tuberculosis (TB) Test Instructions

You must be TB Tested and Fingerprinted to volunteer in the classroom or on field trips.

St. Clare School, in accordance with the instructions of the Diocese of San Jose, and in compliance with the California Public Resources Code 5163, requires volunteers who work at school and have contact with children or are involved in the handling of unwrapped food such as fruits, vegetables and other exposed food to be tested for TB.

TB Test Information

• TB Tests require two office visits. The first visit is to receive the test and the second visit is to have the results read. The skin test must be checked between 48 and 72 hours so tests given on Mondays can be checked either on Wednesday or Thursday. and tests given on Friday must be checked on Monday, etc.
• All volunteers must have a new TB Test every four years.
• Volunteers must provide a copy of the TB Test results to the School Office.

How to get TB Tested

A TB test may be obtained through your health plan provider (Kaiser, Blue Cross, etc.) Usually a doctor must order this test for you.

A TB test may be obtained through the Santa Clara County Public Health Department which provides an Immunization Service to the public in accordance with their policies. Please contact the Public Health Department for more information.
