Second Grade Reading List
Listed below are the suggested books for your child’s summer reading enjoyment. I ask that
your child begin to develop the reading habits expected of second graders. Children are asked
to read independently for ten to fifteen minutes each day. You may wish to alternate a day of
silent reading with a day of oral reading. Beginning second graders have a wide range of reading
levels. Find a level that is comfortable for your child and allow them to explore reading.
