The Green Folder contains homework which is to be completed and returned to school.
Our goal is to teach the students to become responsible for removing the envelopes from their backpack and putting them in the proper place in the classroom.
The Thursday Envelope is a laminated envelope sent home, with the youngest student, to each family. This envelope will contain flyers, forms and other documents that you need to see. Families should remove the contents and return the empty envelope by the following Monday.
Parents are always welcome to attend our daily Morning Assembly. Students are expected to stand in the kindergarten line when the first bell rings at 8:05am. This is the time to say good bye to your student, wish him/her a good day and then move away from your student. Being able to easily separate from the parent is a very important development goal for students
When sending money to school, make sure that the payment is in a sealed envelope. Please remember to write your student’s name and grade on the envelope.
We have installed a secure drop box for your use outside the school office. Please feel free to use this drop box when the school office is closed.
Nob Hill Catering offers a prepared lunch Monday through Thursday for a fee. You need to order this lunch via their web site, www.thelunchmaster.com. The Nob Hill order page offers a menu of food choices. If you order Nob Hill Lunch for your child, they will need to drop off their tickets in the yellow basket.
St. Clare School offers pizza lunch on Fridays. You can order pizza by completing the Order Form that is sent home in the Thursday envelope. The order form is also found on the Download page of the school web site.
If your child doesn’t have a lunch, we will give him/her an extra Nob Hill lunch, if one is available, and you will be charged for this meal. If there are no extra lunches, the school will provide your child with food.
Kindergartners are escorted, as a group, to the restroom at the beginning of school day and again after lunch.
Students may always ask to use the restroom at other times and will be allowed to leave class with a buddy. The girl’s restroom is located across the hall from the Kindergarten class. The boy’s restroom is located at the other end of the building across from the fifth grade classroom.
The school publishes a weekly newsletter every Thursday. This newsletter is posted on the school web site and emailed to parents also. Periodically, the office will send an email blast to the entire school about an important or time critical topic.
A Kindergarten parent has volunteered to assist the teacher and school by acting as a Room Rep. This person is also part of the Parent Teacher Group (PTG). One of the duties of the Room Rep is to send classroom-related messages to parents.
Please notify the school email address changes.
We always start and end each day with prayer. We pray before meals and take time in the middle of a lesson to pray when the need arises.
Even though formal religion instruction takes place each day, we incorporate catholic values into every lesson we teach and every challenge we face. Students are taught about our values from the first day of school.
Daily Schedule
CKZ students spend the first portion of their after school time, on Monday through Thursday, completing their homework. No homework is assigned on Friday.
Students enjoy play time after this homework period.
If you want your student to do homework at home please let the group leader know. If you want your child to do homework, Monday – Thursday, please make sure their green homework folder is in their backpack daily and let the group leader know.
Student-Leader Ratios
We assign the same group leader to our Kindergarten students. This ensures that the leader and students build a relationship. The number of CKZ group leaders is based on the number of students enrolled. We strive to provide more than the minimum-required staff to supervise our students.
Kindergarten students attend our Prayer Services which take place at 12:55pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays. They begin attending school masses in January.
Cultural Dolls are paper dolls that each family decorates in a way that showcases their culture. These dolls are sent home to each new family at the beginning of the school year. We encourage families to "dress" and decorate these dolls and return them to the School Office. We will add them to our Cultural Doll Curtain.
The Kindergarten curriculum includes Computer, Spanish, Music and Art instruction each week.
Parents who need to deliver food or other items to their students will drop off the item at the School Office. School Office staff will ensure that the item is delivered to your student. This policy minimizes disruption to our school day.
All volunteers must sign in the school office and get a visitor’s badge before proceeding to their destination.
To ensure the safety of our students and employees, we do not allow pictures of our students or school events to be posted on the internet. Please refer to the Parent-Student Handbook for additional important information concerning this topic.
